We've had an email from Thierry Deteix, the Sailing coordinator for EuroGames Lyon 2025, advising the Club that the next EuroGames will be in Lyon, France, from the 23th to the 26th of July. The sailing will be held 24th to 25th July at the Grand-Large Reservoir https://www.meyzieu.fr/sortir/sport/le-grand-large and is being organised by our French friends at Voile et Croisière en Liberté https://vcl.fr/
The sailing consists of two events https://lyon2025.com/en/sports/sailing/
- Racing on Hobie Cat 15s with spinnakers with a crew of two
- Recreational sailing on First 7s with a crew of four
The Rowing and Dragon Boat tournaments will be at the same venue and a lot of people and fun is expected.
To attend to EuroGames Lyon 2025 will be a perfect opportunity to rebuild the LGBT Sailing community and to train before GayGames Valencia 2026 and EuroGames Cardiff 2027. The EuroGames fees are more affordable than GayGames fees.
All sports included, Lyon 2025 just reached the 4000 registrations mark, including 530 from UK, the second country after France. It would be a pity if there were only few sailors in the large British delegation.
If you're interested, please put your name down and let's see if we can get the Club represented at the EuroGames. If there's sufficient interest, we can get a group together and arrange a meeting and get it coordinated amongst the attendees. The committee can help with this but it would be great if someone of those wishing to take part would take on this role.
