Thank you to all those who responded to the Balearics Bonanza expression of interest. An encouraging almost thirty respondees. Now to make the interest a reality.
In September 2019, several members from the Club explored the bays and beaches of Ibiza. Building on the success of that flotilla and with Covid travel restrictions now having eased, the club is keen to repeat the week's flotilla in September 2022.
Ibiza has a reputation as being the party island, with thousands flocking there each year for hot days on the pristine beaches and hotter nights clubbing at the mega-venues, with world class DJ's flying in each week all summer. But there is another, more tranquil side to the island (and it's smaller neighbour, Formentera) if you know where to go and when. The 'White Island' boasts so many hidden exceptional sand beaches, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist hotspots, that can only be accessed almost exclusively by boat.
Early September is the absolute ideal time to visit. The mass tourists have started to migrate north again. But after a summer of heating, the seas are at their warmest for swimming, the island's atmosphere is still in full swing and, best of all, flight and yacht charter availability/prices in September should be more favourable too.
The sailing is not challenging. There is no set itinerary; in 2019 the skippers consulted each morning on where to move to that day. The water is deep all round the islands and navigation is primarily 'line of sight'. All short hop navigation, with late afternoon and evenings taking in the world famous Ibiza sunsets, whilst enjoying an iced mojito or iced tea, as you prefer. The nights should all be at anchor or on a mooring buoy, only turning to a port if the conditions dictate this as absolutely necessary.
Feel free to contact me direct if you want any more detailed information at this stage. I am already in contact with those who kindly completed the previous expression of interest, but I would ask those who responded to the EOI, to register their intent to participate again through this event.
I very much look forward to you welcoming you to Ibiza, Baby.
