The plan: Sat 25th May – An early morning cruise up the East Coast assisted by the ebbing tide (LW Harwich 10am BST). Mooring up in the river Stour to have a leisurely lunch onboard and await the tide to rise sufficiently to make the short hop out of the river mouth and enter the Walton Backwaters (HW Harwich 4.48pm BST). Sailing up the Twizzle past Arthur Ransomes Swallows and Amazons islands and the occasional siting of seals basking on the marshes to our overnight mooring at the Titchmarsh Marina. An evening meal together at the Titchmarsh marina restaurant.
Sun 26th May - Relaxing day at Titchmarsh marina, maybe a stroll into Walton. Then depart Titchmarsh marina at High Tide (HW Harwich 5.40pm BST) and sail into the River Orwell to moor at Woolverstone marina.An evening gathering with BBQ meal either at the Marina or at the adjacent Royal Harwich Sailing Club. (Bar available at both locations)
Mon 27th May - Wake up to the call of Curlews and the picturesque Orwell valley. Maybe a morning walk into the ancient woods surrounding Pin Mill.Depart around midday to take advantage of the rising tide southwards to your home ports. (LW Harwich 1200 BST)
